You have to see this to believe it! In this Korean Baseball video, the pitcher hits the batter, but it’s what happens next that will surprise you! This is the strangest thing I have ever seen in a baseball game. Maybe someone can explain this to me: __________________ "Baseball is 90% mental; the other half is physical."--Yogi |

Reply with quote | #2 | Well, it's definitely different.
The subject of this thread certainly would make for interesting reading if everyone noted the strangest thing they've ever seen.
Damon's steal of second and third with the shift on Teixeira at the plate certainly ranks up there.
The hit on the pitchout against the O's (Kerry, Bob, or Craig will recall the details of pitcher & batter since we were there to watch in person) certainly falls within this category.

Reply with quote | #3 | I was there for the Chris Bosio/Bill Hasselman fight vs. the O's, and Jack Cust tripping twice between third and home.
The Korean thing definately has them beat, though.

A friend googled these four words and came up with the following comments:
This clip is from an exhibition match between two celebrity teams. the batter is the comedian hwijae lee and the pitcher is probably the actor jaewook ahn. they’re supposed to be close friends and this was probably prearranged. still hilarious.
from http://www.reddit.com/comments/2okq3/hold_your_feet_korean_baseball_gets_strange :
This is not a real professional baseball game. There is a fund-raising baseball game organized by actors, musicians, television stars and other public figures annually and they were trying to entertain the crowd. The game they are playing can be roughly translated into "chicken fight" which is a traditional Korean game where the players hold one of their leg up in the air and try to knock each other out. I hope that cleared some confusions around here. By the way, baseball in South Korea is extremely popular. Aside from US and Japan, I am pretty sure South Korea has one of the largest baseball fan base in the world.
And look at how slow that pitch was. It probably didn't hurt at all. Thank you. That explains the smirk on the batter's face as he starts hopping. Just for clarification, this is called "chicken fight" in Korea. It's a sort of game, as you can tell. The rule is simple, you hold one of your feet and try to knock the other person out by hopping and pushing. Kinda funny, the name of this game (???) literally translates to chicken fight, kinda like cockfighting. It's supposed to emulate (supposedly) how roosters fight. It's one of the traditional/popular games you play during major holidays in Korea, along with wrestling and tug-of-war.
